Cyber Monday, Where’s My Deal?

Unhappy girl with shopping cart

2013 will forever be the year that the discount fairy forgot. Seriously, since when is 30% off a ‘doorbuster” worthy discount? I recall the days when you had to offer 50% off just to get in the game and seeing promotions for 70 and 80% discounts was the norm.

Hopefully the sluggish Black Friday sales numbers taught retailers that consumers aren’t impressed with 30% off discounts. Sadly, looking out across the webscape, it doesn’t look like it has.

We found very few promotions that offered more than 50% off. The deepest discounts were offered by high-end retailers which typically have much higher margins than budget-friendly retailers like Walmart and Target. So, if you’re looking for a good deal on a $600 dollar knife set  you’ve been eyeing for year, then you are in luck. But, if you were hoping to get some great deals on holiday gifts you might be disappointed.

Here are a few decent deals we found.
