W Los Angeles Offers A Taste of Switzerland

W LOS ANGELES – WESTWOOD OFFERS A TASTE OF SWITZERLAND IN LOS ANGELES WITH APRÈS, STARTING MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25

W Los Angeles – Westwood kicks off the 2013 winter season in style with Après, the new annual fête with winter chalet décor, fire pits, s’mores and fondue stations, and more. The poolside Airstream bar and the EWOW Cabana will be transformed into a Veuve Clicquot Après Ski Chalet, featuring specialty Veuve champagne cocktails for the season. Taking place at the transformed WET deck, Après is inspired by the opening of W Verbier, the first W Alpine Hotel and Residences set to open in Switzerland in December 2013. Those looking to celebrate the holiday season with friends may reserve an Après cabana ($100) for their own holiday gathering. All guests are encouraged to document their time at Après with the on-site photo booth, and play foosball on the Veuve table.

 

“We took a fresh direction when thinking about what we wanted to offer our guests, locals, and holiday party planners this year,” says General Manager James Gancos. “We’ve had great success with CHILL, our ice skating rink, these past four years, and are excited to present a new wintertime look at W Los Angeles – Westwood. In Switzerland, our first W alpine and ski resort will provide the ski-in and ski-out experience, and the hotel will serve as a place for guests to continue the party after a day on the slopes. As a brand, W is always thinking about what’s new and what’s next, and to us that is Après: we’re recreating the after-ski celebration experience at our hotel.”

 

Executive Chef Dakota Weiss will be serving a menu of fondue and s’mores selections for Après goers dining at The Backyard or reserving cabanas to enjoy. Guests may choose the Savory Fondue for Two including Miss Swiss featuring gruyere cheese, sherry, and garlic; and Dive Bar with cheddar, IPA beer, and bacon; Sweet Fondue for Two including Sweet Hot with dark chocolate, pink peppercorns, and Himalayan salt; and Snowflake with white chocolate, toasted coconut, and marshmallow fluff; and make-your-own S’mores with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, graham crackers, and housemade marshmallow.

During holiday parties, and while the cabanas are occupied, the poolside Airstream bar will be serving cocktails including the Hot Apple Pie with apple cider and Tuaca with cinnamon sugar; Candy Land Martini Peppermint Schnapps, vodka, crème de cocoa, and a crushed peppermint chocolate rim; and more. Seasonal Veuve bubbly cocktails will also be served, like the Burgundy Rose and the Elderflower.

W Los Angeles – Westwood is located at 930 Hilgard Ave. Après kicks off on Monday, November 25 and will be taking place until early January 2014.
